Understand workspace access

Members lists the people who can use your workspace and invitations that are still waiting to be accepted. The page is available to people with Manage Members access.

The list shows each person’s name, email address, access badge, and status. Pending invitations appear with the access that will be applied when the recipient accepts them.

The main access levels are:

  • Owner: controls the workspace, including security policy, subscription, Admin access, and permanent workspace deletion.
  • Admin: has full workspace permissions and can invite or remove non-Admin members. An Admin cannot create another Admin or change access levels.
  • Custom: receives only the permissions chosen for that person.

Each workspace has one Owner. The Owner’s access is fixed and cannot be edited from the Members list.

Custom access also has an access type:

  • Team is for people who work inside the workspace. You can grant any suitable custom permissions and optionally limit them to selected resources.
  • Guest is for external or narrowly scoped collaborators. Guests are always resource-limited and cannot receive workspace-wide administration, Audit Log, calendar-management, or private member Chat access.

A non-Guest Custom member can also be marked as resource-limited. This keeps the Team access type while restricting the resources that appear to them.

  • The Owner can invite Admins, Team members, and Guests.
  • An Admin can invite Team members and Guests, but not Admins.
  • The Owner can edit access for existing members and pending invitations.
  • An Admin can remove a non-Admin member or cancel a non-Admin invitation.
  • Nobody can edit or remove the Owner from this page.

Actions that are unavailable for your own role are not shown.
