Create and update a contact

You need permission to edit contacts and access to an eligible Email or Phone channel.

  1. Open Contacts.
  2. Select New contact.
  3. Choose at least one Email or Phone channel.
  4. Enter an email address for an Email channel or a phone number for a Phone channel.
  5. Optionally add a name, labels, more contact methods, and postal addresses.
  6. Select Create contact.

A name or postal address by itself is not enough. A manually created contact must have at least one email address or phone number linked to an eligible channel.

For international phone numbers, include + and the country calling code. Doublewire does not guess a phone number’s country from another profile field.

The profile can include:

  • the saved name and Contact ID;
  • confirmed email addresses, phone numbers, and postal addresses;
  • channel identities and profile links you are allowed to see;
  • contact-detail suggestions awaiting review;
  • engagement and sentiment information;
  • accessible conversations;
  • internal notes and memory information;
  • merge and privacy actions, when permitted.

Long identity values are shortened on screen. Use the copy button to copy the complete value.

Open the contact and select the edit action beside the information you want to change. Contact methods can have descriptive labels such as Work or Personal. A label does not make a value the primary contact method.

Doublewire uses the one saved contact name throughout Contacts, Inbox, Pipeline, and other contact surfaces. A manually edited name is protected from being silently replaced by a later automated channel update.

If the same profile changes elsewhere while your editor is open, Doublewire keeps your draft and checks for a newer version when you save. It will not silently overwrite a more recent change.

Doublewire can suggest an email address or phone number found during a conversation. Review the suggestion before confirming it. An unconfirmed suggestion is not treated as a verified contact method and is not used as a merge match.

Members who can open the contact can read its notes. Members with contact edit permission can add or delete notes. Notes are internal and follow the contact if two profiles are merged.
