Write and manage Chat messages

Enter text in the editor and select the send arrow. Use Shift + Enter for a new line. The editor supports bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, quotes, emoji, and member mentions.

Unsent text is saved privately in the current browser profile, separately for each conversation. Tabs in the same browser share the draft and see one another’s changes. A different browser, device, or private-browsing profile has its own draft.

Sending clears that conversation’s draft from the open tabs in the same browser. Draft text remains in that browser and is not saved to your Doublewire account.

Point to a message bubble, or tap it on a touch screen, to open its actions. Depending on the message and your access, you can:

  • reply while showing the original message as context;
  • forward the complete message to another conversation;
  • copy the message text;
  • edit a message you sent;
  • delete your message;
  • restore it while the undo window remains available.

When editing, the cursor starts at the end of the existing message. Only the author can edit or delete their message.

Deleting replaces the content with a visible deleted-message marker. Restore returns the message and allows it to be deleted again correctly.
