Start direct, saved, and group conversations

Start a direct conversation

1. Select the plus button beside Chat.
2. Choose Direct message.
3. Search the workspace directory.
4. Select one person.

Opening the same person again returns to the existing direct conversation. An empty direct conversation appears only to its creator until the first message is sent, unless the other person independently opens the same chat.

Create saved messages

Choose yourself from the direct-message directory. The conversation uses your name followed by (You). Use it for private notes and drafts that you want to send as messages to yourself.

Create a group

1. Select the plus button and choose Group.
2. Enter a group name and choose its color.
3. Select one or more eligible members, or create the group with only yourself.
4. Save the group.

The creator is automatically the owner and is not repeated in the selection list. A new group becomes visible to all participants after its first message. Members added later can see messages from their join point onward.

Understand the directory

Search results show eligible active team members and their current status. Selected people are marked in place. Email addresses are not used as the secondary directory label.
