Manage a Chat conversation
Rename a group
Section titled “Rename a group”The group owner can select the pencil beside the group name, enter a new name, and press Enter or select elsewhere to save. Escape cancels the draft. Group names can contain up to 120 characters.
Add participants
Section titled “Add participants”- Open the group participant panel.
- Select the plus button.
- Search eligible workspace members.
- Select one or more people.
- Select Save once.
Only the group owner can add or remove participants. A member added to an active group can open it immediately and sees history from their join point. A removed participant loses access immediately.
Favorite or archive
Section titled “Favorite or archive”Select the star to add or remove a favorite. Favorites appear in their own filter and remain easy to find.
Archive conversation removes it from your active list and Chat unread count without affecting anyone else or deleting messages. Restore it from the Archived view. A new message from another participant restores it automatically.
Choose conversation alerts
Section titled “Choose conversation alerts”The conversation menu offers:
- All activity for messages, mentions, and reactions;
- Mentions only for direct mentions;
- None to suppress alerts from that conversation.
Workspace Chat notification choices under Profile > Notification preferences also apply. A mention replaces the ordinary new-message alert for the same person and message, so it does not create two alerts.
Delete an empty conversation
Section titled “Delete an empty conversation”The creator can permanently delete a conversation only while it has no messages. This also removes its unsent local draft. Once message history exists, Delete conversation is unavailable.
If a member leaves the workspace, conversations with history remain available to current participants as appropriate. The departed person is identified as a former member and no longer has access.
