Create and configure an assistant

Create an assistant

1. Open Assistants and select New Assistant.
2. Enter a name.
3. Choose the available AI mode and required model details.
4. Write the system prompt.
5. Save, then continue configuring the assistant.

If automatic Web Widget creation is enabled in workspace settings, saving a new assistant also creates a Web Widget channel. Its website settings and embed code are managed from Channels.

Write the system prompt

Describe the assistant’s role, boundaries, tone, decision rules, and expected outcomes in direct language. Use {ref_id} when the current page or item reference should be inserted, and {if_ref_id}...{/if_ref_id} for text that should appear only when a reference exists.

Configure catalog value groups

Catalog value groups map visitor phrases to known structured values from Website Crawlers linked to the assistant.

1. Link the relevant crawlers under Knowledge.
2. Select Catalog value groups and Add group.
3. Choose a facet, name the group, and enter visitor phrases one per line.
4. Select the canonical values.
5. Save the group, then save the assistant.

Unavailable facets or values remain visible as inactive configuration and are not used until a linked crawler exposes them again.
